Night Latches

A nightlatch (often called a Yale-type lock) mounts on the inside face of the door and locks automatically when the door closes, opened from outside with a cylinder key. Browse narrow and broad cases, British Standard models and replacement nightlatches. Combine with a matching cylinder.

Nightlatch buying guide

How does a nightlatch work?

The latch closes automatically behind you, opened from outside by key and from inside by a knob or lever. A deadlocking or double-locking nightlatch also secures the latch against being slipped.

Narrow or broad case?

Choose a narrow case for doors with glazing bars or panels close to the edge, and a standard broad case for solid timber doors with more room.

Do I need a British Standard nightlatch?

For external doors and insurance purposes, a BS 3621 nightlatch offers a key-locking, deadlocking action for greater security.
