Sashlocks

A sash lock combines a sprung latch and a key-operated deadbolt in one case, so a single mortice both latches and locks the door. Browse 5-lever British Standard, euro profile, oval profile and DIN sash locks in a range of sizes and finishes. Pair one with lever lock handles and matching escutcheons.

Sash lock buying guide

What is the difference between a sash lock and a deadlock?

A sash lock has both a latch (worked by the handle) and a deadbolt (worked by the key), so it suits a pair of lever handles. A deadlock has only the key-operated bolt.

How do I measure a sash lock?

Check the backset — the distance from the door edge to the centre of the follower — and the case size. UK cases are commonly 64mm or 76mm. The centres measurement is the gap between the follower and the keyhole or cylinder.

Do I need a British Standard sash lock?

For external doors and many insurers, a BS 3621 Kitemarked 5-lever sash lock is recommended. Euro and oval profile cases take a separate cylinder, so security depends on the cylinder fitted.
