Blank plate buying guide

What is a blank plate for?

A blank plate covers a redundant or unused electrical back box, giving a neat, safe finish where a switch or socket has been removed.

Single or double?

Match the plate to the back box — a single plate covers a 1-gang box and a double covers a 2-gang box.

Which finish should I pick?

Blank plates look best when they match the surrounding switches and sockets, so choose the same finish used elsewhere in the room.

How are they fitted?

Blank plates screw onto a standard UK back box. They contain no live parts, but any exposed wiring behind them should be dealt with by a qualified electrician.

All electrical installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with UK wiring regulations (BS 7671). Free UK delivery on orders over £100.
