What size hinges do I need for a door?

Most internal doors use 3" (76mm) hinges, while heavier and external doors need 4" (102mm). Fit three hinges per door for fire doors and heavier slabs, and two for lightweight internal doors.

What are ball bearing hinges?

Ball bearing hinges have bearings in the knuckle for smooth, quiet operation and long life under heavy use — the right choice for fire doors and busy doorways. Plain butt hinges suit lighter internal doors.

What grade of hinge should I choose?

CE-marked hinges are graded 7, 11, 13 or 14 to the weight and use they'll take. Grade 13 is the usual choice for fire doors — check the door's requirements before buying.
