What is the difference between a sash lock and a deadlock?

A sash lock has both a latch, operated by the handle, and a deadbolt, operated by the key. A deadlock has only the key-operated bolt.

How do I measure a sash lock?

Check the backset, case size and centres before ordering. UK cases are commonly 64mm or 76mm, while Euro and oval profile locks use the relevant cylinder profile.

Do I need a British Standard sash lock?

For external doors where enhanced security is required, a BS 3621 5-lever sash lock can be an appropriate choice. Euro and oval profile sash locks use a separate cylinder, so check the lock and cylinder specifications before ordering.
