Traditional Rim Locks

Traditional rim locks are surface locks that usually measure 150 x 100mm and they are mainly used for decorative purposes in traditional settings such as cottages, farmhouses, country pads and listed buildings. They are not reliable as a layer of security because they are very easy to open, but they will certainly add a little character and charm to your interior, especially when used on classic ledged and braced doors.

Here at Lovehandles we feature some timeless traditional rim locks that add eye-catching decorations to doors. They come in classic finishes such as brass, pewter and black antique and are reproduction pieces of classic rim locks first used on doors centuries ago. We feature traditional rim locks from the likes of Kirkpatrick, Frelan Hardware and M Marcus.

But please be aware that rim locks are not enough to secure the main doors of your home - you will need to use them in tandem with a proper insurance rated lock. Traditional rim locks and their keeps are held in place with screws, so anyone with a screwdriver can remove the lock and open a door if there is not a proper lock elsewhere!
